The bullring of the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla is the venue for the bullfights that take place in the city of Seville and is especially relevant for fans of the bullfights that take place during the April Fair. It is considered the bullring with the longest bullfighting tradition in Spain. It is popularly known as the "Taurine Cathedral". Originally built in wood in 1733 on the Baratillo hill (which is why it is also called Coso del Baratillo), it is one of the oldest plazas in Spain and the first circular (oval) plaza. It is a late Baroque building, the main entrance with two towers stands out, and it is considered one of the most beautiful bullrings in Spain. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city and one of the most visited monuments in the city. The arena has a capacity of 12,700 seats, although renovations begun in 2008 at the Shadow Stand have increased its capacity by almost 13,000 seats.
